Farewell 2015.

You may have noticed my recent lack of presence from these pages. When I last posted in September, just after graduation, I found myself at a crossroad in life, as many graduates do. I have taken time to figure out what I want and it has not been easy. Now, on the first day of 2016, I want to look back at the highlights of my last year in the hope that it will fuel my optimism for the next 366 days (it's a leap year.)

1. In July, I started a new job. It's not full time, and it's not what I wanted to be doing right after graduation. But it's a job I love and it's a step up the ladder.

2. In August, we celebrated my niece's first birthday. She is now 16 months old and the most intelligent and incredible little girl I have ever met. She is my inspiration every day.

3. Later in August, I went to Reading festival and saw my favourite band, Metallica, live. They did not disappoint and since then, the obsession has only grown!

4. In September, I graduated university. I felt a huge sense of pride and accomplishment, even though my final grade wasn't what I wanted it to be.

5. In October, I took an intensive driving course and bought my very first car (a 1999 Fiat Punto!). Driving was a huge hurdle for me after having a bad instructor when I was 17, so although I am yet to pass my test, I am proud that I have overcome my fears and am working to accomplish an important goal.

6. In November, I turned 22, and celebrated with dinner at one of my favourite restaurants (Bodega, in case you're tempted) and an amazing night out surrounded by boys and girls who I can truly call friends. So amazing in fact that this was the only decent photo we took all night!

Here's to a happy 2016 for all.
