Mother/daughter time at ASK Italian

On Thursday evening, I treated my mother to dinner at ASK Italian in Birmingham City Center. She was unfortunately working on Mothering Sunday. We had never been to this restaurant before. However, our local ASK has never failed to impress.

The interior is beautifully decorated, with lots of quirky details, like the artistic map of Italy, the bowl of tomatoes and the cooking utensils hung between the booths.

I had the spaghetti carbonara with pepperoni panzerottini (doughballs, to you and me) on the side. Mum had the rigatoni al manzo piccante, with the antipasto classico board. The food was absolutely delicious. There are no words to describe it. However, portion sizes are a little overzealous, and neither of us could finish our food. I was so sad to see it go to waste...

If you're an Italian food fanatic like me, you'll love ASK. It has a real sense of authenticity, whilst also feeling really modern and welcoming.

And also, I love you Mama. Happy Mother's Day, and every other day, for that matter.
