Lessons in Photography

On Sunday, I redeemed a Groupon offer for a full-day workshop at Iguana Photography. At first, the deal seemed hard to refuse, but when I did a quick Google Maps search on the studio, I found that it was a 5 minute walk from my house, so I snapped it up right away.

The morning was spent learning about the technical side of photography - ISO, white balance, shutter speed, etc. Our 'teacher', Simon, has been a photographer for 15 years and is a member of the Royal Photographic Society, so we knew we were in good hands.

After lunch, we headed outside to put our newfound knowledge to the test. Unfortunately, we were on an industrial estate in the rain, but we made the best of it.

We then practised using longer shutter speeds to capture light trails. After an incredible demonstration from Simon, we got the chance to create our own interpretation. And I'm quite proud of mine!

The day was really interesting and beneficial, and I hope never to switch back to Auto mode ever again. Thank you to Simon and everyone at Iguana Photography for the opportunity.
