Goodbye Freshers

So that's it. One year down, two to go. It's been an amazing experience, and I've learned so much. It's such a relief to have summer stretching out ahead of me, but I thought I'd take a look back at what I've done over the past year.

Visual Studies - Create an ad campaign image for a chosen brand, reflecting an A/W 2012 trend. This was our very first project, and boy, did they throw us in at the deep end. I went through a lot of stress, but was really happy with the outcome.

Marketing - Devise a new marketing strategy for a retailer, with consideration to the economic climate. I went for Oasis, considering I work for them, and had access to lots of useful resources. Most of this project was business based, but was still a lot of fun.

Professional Development - A three week work placement. I went to Selfridges Birmingham and worked with the Visual Merchandising team there. They were some of the loveliest, most patient people I've ever come across and they taught me so much. It was an extremely valuable experience.

Visual Merchandising - Create a window concept for the Oxford Circus Topshop store inspired by one of three trends. This one was a group project, and threw up quite a few problems. But we worked together and got through it all. The second image is taken from my individual research booklet.

Buying + Merchandising - Design a range of garments for F&F at Tesco for S/S 2014. This was the last project of the year, but probably the most fun. It was really interesting designing prints and putting them together on the garments. I took all my prints from a gardening book. I also realised just how valuable WGSN is.

We have been promised that next year will be tough. I don't doubt them in the slightest. But I'm having an absolute ball, so I'll think I'll stick it out.
