6 Things to do in Dublin

So, it's about a week and a half until Sean and I jet off to Dublin for our weekend away (thank you Groupon), so it's time to start making plans. I've already started looking at what the city has to offer, and I am very excited!

1. Visit Temple Row
Situated on the south bank of the River Liffey, Temple Row has preserved its historic aesthetic with cobbled streets and original buildings. It is known as 'Dublin's cultural quarter', and is home to fashion boutiques, pubs, clubs and restaurants.

2. Go to a real Irish bar
We have many an Irish bar in Birmingham, but none can really capture the true spirit of the Emerald Isle. The image above is taken from the website of Flannery's in Dublin, which just so happens to be directly opposite our hotel!

3. See Kilmainham Gaol
Kilmainham Gaol (or 'jail' to us English-speaking folk) is a former prison, now turned museum. Many leaders of Irish rebellions were imprisoned and some executed at Kilmainham, and so it plays an important part in Irish history.

4. Go to the Science Gallery
'A place where science and art collide'This interactive museum houses some amazing feats of science, and allows visitors to not only experience science in an entirely new way, but also voice their own opinions on the technology on show.

5. Visit Loft Market
This fashion and design collective, founded in 2006 by fashion editor of THREAD magazine Aisling Farinella, has become an established spot for the up-and-coming design talent of Dublin to showcase their wares. The market offers clothing, accessories, and vintage items.

6. Go to Dublin Zoo
Whilst Googling for images of Dublin Zoo, I was inundated by photos of the most adorable baby animals. Which, of course, only increased my excitement. Dublin is one of the world's oldest zoos, and is also a registered charity, meaning every visit helps to conserve and protect wildlife.
